Scott C. G. Blankenship

Scott practices primarily in the areas of employment discrimination and wage/hour litigation, personal injury, medical malpractice, class actions, and complex civil litigation. Scott established The Blankenship Law Firm in 1993, and is dedicated to achieving the best and most efficient results for his clients through aggressive, thorough and ethical representation. He believes that no person, government, or corporate entity is beyond the reach of the law. He is committed to seeing that our court system protects, preserves, and furthers fundamental rights not only for his clients, but also for our nation and community.

Scott has been selected as a “Super Lawyer” every year from 2003-2012 by Washington Law & Politics magazine in the practice area of Employment Law, as well as a Rising Star in 2000-2002. As a Super Lawyer, Scott is in the top 5% of lawyers in the state. Scott has been included in "The Best Lawyers in America" for 2012 by Best Lawyers. He has also been named a Top Lawyer by Seattle Metropolitan Magazine in both 2010 and 2011. Furthermore, in the June 2008 edition of Washington CEO Magazine, Scott is featured as one of the top ten Employment/Labor Lawyers in Washington State.   • Retaliation and hostile work environment, $750,000 while representing client at the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) prior to filing in court, 2010
  • Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) v. Lowe's HIW, Inc., sexual harassment and retaliation, which according to the EEOC was the largest EEOC settlement per employee in a sexual harassment case in the Western United States, $1,720,000, 2009

  • Zhang v. American Gem Seafoods, $3,963,033 judgment for race/national origin discrimination which was upheld on all counts by the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in August 2003 (the U.S. Supreme Court declined review in March 2004). According to Jury Verdicts Northwest, this verdict was the largest individual race discrimination verdict in the history of the Northwest

Prior to practicing in Washington State, Scott served with the United States Senate Judiciary Committee Investigator Counsel, charged with oversight of an EEOC investigation of race discrimination within the FBI. Scott received his Bachelor of Arts degree from University of California Los Angeles, graduating with the distinction of Chancellor’s Marshal. He went on to study law at Cambridge University in England, and earned his law degree from Tulane University Law School, where he served as Editor in Chief of the Tulane Environmental Law Journal.

Scott is admitted to practice in Washington, Oregon, Alaska, U.S. District Court, Western and Eastern Districts of Washington, U.S. District Court of Oregon, and U.S. District Court, Northern District of California; U.S. Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit; and the U.S. Supreme Court. Scott is a member of the bar for the United States Supreme Court; King County, Washington State and American Bar Associations; Alaska Bar Association; Washington State Trial Lawyers Association (Eagle Member); National Employment Lawyers Association; Washington Employment Lawyers Association; and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America.

*Only a small percentage of lawyers achieve AV rating, the “A” signifying preeminent knowledge of the law and ability, and the “V” signifying very high ethics.
